Robert Hurlbut founded Horizon Cyber LLC in September 2026.

Robert brings over 30 years of experience in secure coding and software architecture. Robert started and led the Threat Modeling program at Bank of America, filled a similar role at Aquia, and served as a trainer and coach at Toreon. He is passionate about helping teams identify, communicate, and understand threats and mitigations and enhance workload security through Threat Modeling.

Robert is a co-author of the Threat Modeling Manifesto, the Threat Modeling Capabilities Model, and co-host of the Application Security Podcast. A world-renowned Threat Modeling expert, he frequently contributes thought leadership pieces and delivers workshops and presentations at industry events.
